Match Report
Excellent performance from the boys away from home in our first competitive match against Surrey who are well known for being a strong County set up. I think we could/should have taken all 3 points today although Surrey did apply more pressure in the 2nd half especially from set pieces. Lots of positives, great link play, 100% effort and determination, good shape with and without the ball and good decision making overall.

Fantastic from all the boys involved today, from start to finish. Fast start led to Finn and Owen scoring a goal each in the 1st 20 mins. The boys had a good balance of playing football and hitting good areas, causing Middlesex issues all game. 2nd half was a case of game management it was never a game we looked like losing and the boys definitely took their foot off but still managed to create chances and score two goals through Ethan W.
Strong performances all the park notably from Owen L, Bailey N, Kai P and Finn K.

Today was the perfect example of ‘a game of two halves’! In the first half Kent deservedly went in at H/T 1-0 up, although they applied a lot of pressure the goal was definitely one that could have been avoided. 2nd half we were 10x better, more aggressive with the ball and pinned Kent back. Our goal came from Kai recovering a heavy cross which led to a quality strike from Finn. Overall a draw was a fair result! Well done to Alex Grieve who was today’s MOTM, excellent performance.

Tough finish to the season, the boys gave a 100% but unfortunately it wasn’t enough to get a result. Sussex were more physical and dominant and unfortunately scored their goals at important times. The boys showed a positive reaction to the change in formation but struggled to create clear cut chances and got caught while pressing for another goal.

I want to say thank you to all the parents and players for their commitment and dedication to the county set up. I will keep you all up to date with county football but at this point it looks like we’ll have no more games going forward.
